what's been going on
let’s play catch up since i haven’t sent an issue of personal IN OVER A YEAR. forgive me! here are some of the things that’ve been hiding in the i-should-send-this-out-on-personal folder.
cariuma shoes
confession: i was definitely influenced by
(@thenewyorkstylist on IG) to buy these classic white leather tennies. they are the perfect balance of style and function. in other words, cute but comfy! added bonus: they are seeking to ethically produce their products while also planting a tree in brazil (their home country) per pair of shoes sold!ed note: i just noticed they have a discount program for teachers, students, first responders, and medical personnel.
growing flowers from seed
i know, growing season is coming to a close. but tuck this away for those almost-spring days - buy yourself flower seeds (especially varieties of zinnias and marigolds)! look for “the easy grow” packets if this is your first attempt to grow from seed. the joy from fresh cut flowers that you grew yourself is unparalleled.
gigi + z necklaces
i used a lil money from a freelance project to treat myself to one of these necklaces! such a fun pop to add to all my pretty monotone (all black everything) outfits.
bengal spice tea
dare i say this is chai, but better. and decaf! i’ve been drinking at least two cups a day… and because it’s decaf, it’s the perfect before bedtime treat.
fish stick tacos
direct quote from my husband: “these are fun to eat.” this is one of those non-recipe recipes:
2 fish sticks per taco (we get the frozen, panko-breaded ones from costco)
sprinkle of cheese
corn tortillas, warmed
a little slaw (i like this one from gimme some oven)
very good with sweet potato fries on the side (cook them alongside the fish sticks) for an easy weeknight dinner!
warm color LED wireless motion sensor light
these little babies saved us when we were out of power for a week after Helene blew through the Upstate. I didn’t buy them for that purpose, but we were so glad to have these lights to automatically come on at night in the bathroom, or when we opened our hall closet, or while we prepped food at night! big plus: they use magnets not screws to install, so you can put them anywhere with little commitment.
Razor Hair Cut + JVN air dry cream
my friend, rebecca, has turned me onto the magic of a razor cut (think the razor that gives captain hook that close shave - but it’s used to give you a haircut!). i’m obsessed. mostly because i have only turned on a blowdryer/straightener/curling iron ONCE since june! in addition to a salty spray, this JVN air dry cream is making my low-maintenance hair dreams come true. (greenville friends, if you wanna book with rebecca, you can do it here. tell her i sent you and you’ll get $30 off.)
slow cooker beef stew
signing off with this amazing slow cooker beef stew that’s helping me survive this week. you should put it on your meal plan for next week!
till next time,
